Happy Saint Pattrick,s Day

Saint Patrick (not just a holiday for green beer and corned beef and hash)

N started working from home today, so we took turns with kid corralling. He had the morning and I did more in the afternoon. Breakfast was, of course, green Lucky Charms that turn your milk (and likely other things) green. We all tried to dress in green - I made it into pants I haven't worn in a few years!

The morning was a success! Boys cleaned their rooms and the living room floor so the Roomba could run without picking up their LEGOs. Next was coloring time using pictures we print off the internet. From there, we entered "learning time". I hate that we are doing Moby Max, in addition to already increased screen time, but this is what we have for now. My awesome coworker also sent St. Patrick's Day packet of math and letters for early elementary. That was super helpful and M even helped L with it!

Reading Time. This was one of the quietest parts of the day, by far! Both boys read for 30 minutes. Silently. I was worried something happened. L is not really reading yet, but he looked at a book of vehicles. Twice. Whatever works.

Second Quietest Time - Cincinnati Zoo Home Safari. Today was Rico the Brazilian Porcupine and M & L were in love! Not only that, they raised $12.6K during the event! I sent a note to the MN Zoo suggesting they could raise some funds that way. We'll see what they respond.

Chalk Greetings

I saw someone post about writing chalk notes on your neighbor's driveways. After a short trip to the park, we grabbed some chalk and headed to a few neighbors' houses. Yes, apparently it's spelled "Saint Pattrick,s Day" - two Ts and a comma. But how adorable is that!?! I didn't have the heart to correct him. ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’— L hoped they wouldn't be mad that we wrote on their driveways. I hope we don't have any Grinches in our neighborhood!

Mommy Time

I am finding that time for myself or N and me is trickier. I am having to work later into the evening to make up for interrupted time. And my plan to work out over my lunch is yet to come to fruition. Tonight it happened at 10:00 pm. Even though we are together the entire day, I feel like N and I have even less time together, as I am trying to plan the next day.

Moms, what are you doing to stay sane? I'm writing this chronicle of our experiences and trying to clean up one area of our house each day. Today was the kitchen counter. A lot to be done in the cupboards themselves, but at least they are hidden for now. Any suggestions to find quality time?

Get into the Groove

Same Old Well, we certainly have fallen into a groove. M & L were really good today, watching their three “classes” on CILC and then playing LEGOs. They made so many creations. Played more chess, watched more Pokรฉmon, are too many snacks, and balked at going outside. Did their mandatory 30 minutes post lunch quiet/reading time. We have been watching movies at night, but I’m trying to break the habit. Boys wanted to go to the Purple Park (Lino Park), but I’m hesitant to go with all those germs. Monopoly instead.  The problem is, we are in a rut   funk  groove. We are stuck only playing with each other, calling grandparents and cousins, trying to get outside. While most of today was great, L threw some chess pieces, so M threw one at L’s face. Neither wanted to change out of PJs. We eat the same things for lunch. We need something to change things up. But preferably one that doesn’t take Mommy and Daddy away from work for too long and doesn’t need a ton of superv...

We Got This!

End of Week Two I saw  THIS VIDEO  in a Facebook group and I think it pretty much sums it up. I love how Ms. Kelley states it, whoever she is. Gonna go grab those tissues now.  We have Friday off because it’s Western Good Friday. Signed the boys up for CILC morning. That at least gets me 1.5 hours of solid work time.   Stay safe everyone!

Senselessness and Atrocities

I have struggled with the senselessness of this past week. I have not had the words to express my sadness, anger, frustration. How can a man be dead when he complied with officers? How does NOT ONE officer in attendance step in and say, "Enough?" How does one who has so many complaints against him still patrol the streets? What has allowed this behavior to continue? How does it take so long to arrest the offending officer? I have so many questions and no answers.  And then the rioters. I believe in peaceful protest. Yes, Ma rtin Luther King Jr said, "A riot is the language of the unheard." But he also said, " Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.”  How does burning down local businesses, restaurants, and looting further the cause? Rather than focusing on the truth of what happened, those who are violently protesting are distracting from what happened....
